We just got back (okay, maybe not just–but recently) from our eight-day adventure into the Adirondacks. We spent eight total nights at Eighth Lake Campground in Inlet, NY. We explored many new-to-us regions, and completed about 9 hikes, most of them under 1/2 mile.
The campground itself was great. Eighth Lake is a NYS DEC campground and lacks many of the amenities that you might find at a NYS Park. There was enough to keep us happy though, and our campsite happened to be just off the water, meaning the kids could play and we could launch the kayak right from our site.
In our time we were able to visit the Moose River Wild Forest, Fulton Chain Wild Forest, Blue Ridge Wilderness, and Pigeon Wilderness. All of which are part of NYS’ “forever wild” forest preserve.
